1. Sleep Well

Inadequate and interrupted sleep may result in dark circles under the eyes. Sleep well for 7-9 hours every night. Keep away from the reasons that prevent you from quality sleep.

Drugs, alcohol and coffee at bed time can adversely affect your sleep.

Raising the head of your bed at night can help prevent fluids from accumulating around your eyes as you sleep.

2. Treat Your Allergies

Allergies may be the cause of your skin discoloration around the eyes. They trigger the release of histamines in the body, which can cause swelling.

You may have seasonal allergy, or allergy from some food, some chemicals and vapors in your environment or gluten intolerance.

3. Treat Your Nasal Congestion

If you have blocked nose, then the veins around your sinuses are darkened, resulting in dark circles beneath your eyes.

  1. Place teabags in some water and refrigerate it overnight and apply them on your closed eyes next morning for 15 minutes.
  2. The tannin in tea bags improves discoloration. Use green tea bags as they work better for the skin and speeds up cure process. Chamomile tea is better because it has anti-inflammatory properties.
  3. You could apply an ice cube wrapped in soft cloth instead of teabags.

10. Potato Puree

Mash a uncooked potato to make its puree and apply on your closed eyes. Wash it after half an hour with warm water.

Applying vitamin E on the dark area around eyes helps lighten dark color.

Massage almond oil on the affected area before sleeping, the vitamin E in the oil will work overnight on your skin and this way the skin color will improve gradually.

  1. Apply an eye cream containing vitamin K and retinol to reduce puffiness and discoloration significantly.
